Top 10 Team Power Rankings (Week 26/1/18)

A major shift again occurred in the weeks power rankings, with slips ups in relatively simple fixtures saw some teams fall, while other teams rose due to solid and clinical performances.

So, here are the weeks rankings:

Barcelona leapfrog up into first place from last weeks rank due to a dominant week that saw them win twice in a 5-0 belting of Real Betis in the league and a 2-0 win over rivals Espanyol in the Copa del Rey to advance to the next stage.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich also rise up the rankings ahead of PSG through some classy victories in domestic league and cup competitions. PSG's fall down the rankings see's them at their lowest weekly rank since the inception of the Power rankings (4th). Over the last week PSG surprisingly lost in league action - 2-1 away to Lyon and shipped 2 goals in a hard-fought 4-2 victory over Guingamp, where the Ligue 1 leaders didn't look to stable. Due to the win over PSG, Lyon enter the top 10 in 10th position.

Juventus and FC Porto switch places in the rankings from last week due to Juventus getting a necessary win over Genoa (1-0) to continue the Serie A title race struggle between themselves and Napoli, while FC Porto played two weekly matches, with one of them being a penalty shoot-out loss in the Taca Del Liga.

Manchester United remain in 7th spot after a simple 1-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League, with the big movers in the bottom half of the rankings being Napoli, who managed a 1-0 win over Atalanta to continue to lead the Serie A.

Sevilla replace fellow Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the top 10 after they beat Espanyol in the league 3-0, and then also beat the Madrid based side 3-1 in the Copa Del Rey.

Along with Atletico Madrid falling out of the top 10, Liverpool are out after 1 week, due to a big upset loss to Swansea (1-0), leaving them in a tough spot to secure a top 4 place and guarantee champions league football for next season with Arsenal, Tottenham and even Leicester possibly being able to usurp them to 4th place.
