WFC's Team-By-Team Preview - Part 5

Tottenham
Top Target

Harry Kane – £12.5 (TSB 33.9%)

With a shot every 16.76 minutes last season, it’s no surprise that Harry Kane scores so many goals. He’ll have to get through August first though…

Differential/Punt

Dele Alli – £9.0 (TSB 3.6%)

Over his three seasons as a Premier League footballer, Alli averages 189 FPL points per season. That’s higher than Christian Eriksen’s average FPL total score (178). Alli’s average position on the field is generally further forward than Harry Kane, so he essentially plays as a striker. Expect Alli to excel this season.

Monitor

Lucas Moura – £7.0 (TSB 2.0%)

With Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli easing back into action after the World Cup, and Son Heung-Min to miss the first month or so of the campaign due to the Asian Games, Lucas will have his chance in the Tottenham team. Having spent half a season adjusting to life in the Premier League, Lucas has been in fine form throughout the pre-season (three goals/two assists), and appears ready to properly show his attacking attributes this season.

Be Wary of

Kieran Trippier – £6.0 (TSB 24.5%)

As long as Serge Aurier is fit, Kieran Trippier is a huge rotation risk.

Penalty Takers

1. Kane; 2. Eriksen; 3. Alli

Free Kick Takers

1. Eriksen; 2. Trippier; 3. Lamela

Corner Takers

1. Eriksen; 2. Davies; 3. Trippier

Predicted Starting Line Up

Additional Notes

- Spurs have a large number of star players returning to pre-season late after World Cup exertions. They will be eased back into action.

- Although it seems unlikely at this stage as he has not yet returned to training, Harry Kane (£12.5) has himself stated that he will play come GW1.

- Toby Alderweireld (£6.0) seems almost certain to leave Tottenham in the coming days.

- All four of Tottenham’s fullbacks are top drawer FPL assets, but Pochettino loves to rotate them so they should all be avoided.

- Ben Davies (£6.0) has almost entirely as a centre back in pre-season.

- Son Heung-Min (£8.5) will be available for GW1, then he will fly to Indonesia for a
month or so to take part in the Asian Games with Korea Republic.

- Erik Lamela (£6.5) has looked very sharp in pre-season, but a recent injury has halted his progress. If he can get back to full fitness, he will have a role to play this season.

- Expect Christian Eriksen (£9.5) to be one of the top scoring midfielders again this season.

- Both Christian Eriksen (£9.5) and Dele Alli (£9.0) roam freely in the Spurs midfield and attack and are not restricted to a particular position.

Watford

Top Target

Gerard Deulofeu – £5.5 (TSB 1.3%)

With Richarlison now gone, Deulofeu will become Watford’s main man in attack and much weight will fall on his shoulders. Scoring 0.067 and 0.059 points per minute in his last two 500+ minute seasons, Deulofeu’s scoring output per minute is similar to players such as Dele Alli and Sadio Mané. So, given that he will get the minutes this season (barring injury), you can expect Gerry D to return solid FPL points.

Differential/Punt

Ken Sema – £5.0 (TSB 0.1%)

Sema is a fast and powerful winger who arrives at Watford from Swedish club and Europa League competitor Östersunds FK. Over the past two seasons, Sema provided 26 assists and scored 6 goals. Not many players with Sema’s attacking capabilities are
priced as cheap as £5.0.

Monitor

Roberto Pereyra – £6.0 (TSB 0.5%)

Despite only making 18 starts last season, the Argentina managed to finish the season with 5 goals and 2 assists, making him Watford’s =2nd leading scorer. If Pereyra can cement his spot in the starting side this season, he can excel.

Be Wary of

Abdoulaye Doucouré – £6.0 (TSB 2.9%)

Doucouré this season screams of Etienne Capoue from 2015/16 – 2017/18. Capoue scored 7 goals and provided 2 assists in 2015/16 scoring 131 FPL points. He followed this up with 1 goal, 1 assist and 48 FPL points last season. In 2017/18, Doucouré scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists, registering 136 FPL points. There are far better options than Doucouré for £6.0, and it’d be surprising to even see him score 100+ FPL points this season.

Penalty Takers

1. Deeney; 2. Cleverley; 3. Gray

Free Kick Takers

1. Holebas; 2. Pereyra; 3. Deulofeu

Corner Takers

1. Holebas; 2. Cleverley; 3. Deulofeu

Predicted Top Scorer

Gray (9)

Predicted Top Assister

Deulofeu (8)

Predicted Starting Line Up

Additional Notes

- Watford have a plethora of defenders, including six centre backs (all priced at £4.5),
three left backs (all priced at £4.5), and three right backs (two priced at £4.5).

- Will Hughes (£5.0) is a viable FPL option if he can nail down a starting spot.

- Expect Ben Foster (£4.5) to usurp Heurelho Gomes (£4.5) as first choice keeper.

- Andre Gray (£6.0) has showed solid form in pre-season, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

West Ham

Top Target

Marko Arnautovic – £7.0 (TSB 26.0%)

Marko Arnautovic ended last season in terrific form, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists in his final 17 games. This form has carried over into pre-season, where the Austrian has netted five goals and provided 1 assist. Hopefully playing up front, Arnie may continue to flourish in the 2018/19 season.

Differential/Punt

Andriy Yarmolenko – £7.0 (TSB 3.3%)

Yarmolenko struggled to settle in the Bundesliga last season. However, his attacking exploits before last season are remarkable. From 2013/14 – 2016/17, Yarmolenko averaged 20 goals and 13 assists per season. This was in the Ukranian Premier Liga which is a considerably lower quality than the Premier League, but Yarmolenko clearly has the potential to bag big hauls in FPL.

Monitor

Chicharito – £6.5 (TSB 2.7%)

Chicharito is a quality striker who knows how to find the back of the net. In his return from World Cup duty, he immediately slotted in up front, and netted a goal in West Ham’s 1-0 win over Angers. Priced at only £6.5, he could come into consideration if he nails down a starting spot up front.

Be Wary of

Jack Wilshere – £5.0 (TSB 5.2%)

With West Ham’s numerous attacking options, Wilshere looks set to be deployed as a
deep lying playmaker this season, not at attacking midfield. Obviously, his horrible
injury record is another turn off.
Penalty Takers

1. Noble; 2. Lanzini; 3. Arnautovic

Free Kick Takers

1.  Noble; 2. Arnautovic; 3. Cresswell

Corner Takers

1. Cresswell; 2. Lanzini; 3. Noble

Predicted Top Scorer

Arnautovic (13)

Predicted Top Assister

Felipe Anderson (9)

Predicted Starting Line Up

Additional Notes

- Right back Ryan Fredericks (£5.0) provided 9 assists for Fulham in the Championship last season. He will overtake Pablo Zabaleta (£4.5) as first choice right back.

- Last season, Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5) scored 157 points playing for a Swansea side that got relegated. In a West Ham side that should concede fewer goals, Fabianski could go even better this season.

- Michail Antonio (£7.0) and Robert Snodgrass (£5.5) are almost certain to begin the season as bench players, but are both proven FPL assets and could become genuine options if they receive opportunities.

Wolves

Top Target

Diogo Jota – £6.5 (TSB 6.3%)

Jota scored 17 goals and provided 6 assists in the Championship last season from the left wing. Jota is creative attacker and a deadly finisher, and Wolverhampton’s go to man. There’s not much to dislike.

Differential/Punt

Hélder Costa – £5.0 (TSB 1.0%)

Costa didn’t have the best 2017/18 season, but he was excellent the season before, scoring 10 goals and providing 8 assists, with two shots and two key passes per game. Having had a very lively pre-season, Costa is one of, if not the best, cheap midfield option.

Monitor

Raúl Jiménez– £5.5 (TSB 3.1%)

Having started and scored a goal in Wolves’ final pre-season game, it appears that Jiménez will be first choice striker at Molineux this season. A player with Champions League and World Cup experience, Jiménez is a natural number 9 who is a big presence up front.

Be Wary of

Ruben Neves – £5.0 (TSB 14.5%)

Neves scored 6 goals last season, but he is not known for his attacking output. He is a majestic midfielder, but more often than not he assists the assister, so will not pick up a great deal of FPL points. Having missed a penalty Wolves’ final pre-season match, Neves may lose this responsibility with many other accomplished takers nipping at his heels.

Penalty Takers

1. Neves; 2. Jiménez; 3. Jota

Free Kick Takers

1. Moutinho; 2. Neves; 3. Jota

Corner Takers

1. Costa Neves; 2. Neves; 3. Cavaleiro

Predicted Top Scorer

Jota (10)

Predicted Top Assister

Costa (8)

Predicted Starting Line Up

Additional Notes

- Wolves had six different penalty takers last season, with each player taking one each (Cavaleiro, Jota, Neves, Coady, Costa, Bonatini). New signings João Moutinho and Raúl Jiménez are both accomplished penalty takers, so Wolves could rotate takers again this season.

- Rui Patrício (£4.5) is known for his shot stopping ability, which will see him score well in the BPS. With Wolves’ tight defence, Patrício will score highly this season.

- Popular cheapie Ryan Bennett (£4.0) played a big role for Wolves in pre-season, but he will most likely have to settle for a place on the bench.
